This board was formed for people to gain education and make the nation shine this board was established in the year 1968 under the ordinance number VII of 1968 it was under west Pakistan board that consisted of Sargodha and Multan and first ever exams were conducted in 1969 there were many students who appeared in the board and participated in it.

Punjab education commission was formed in the year 2005 that was for the purpose to conduct and manage education and examination that is for 5th and 8th class of the board and many students appear in them although they are not compulsory but many students appear for practice. Main purpose of the board is to conduct examination for 5th , 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th class examination.

Many students appear in examination of 10th class that is conducted by the board in the month of March and April and many students appear as regular and other private students. Before examination by the board registration occurs that is in the month of January and these forms are posted to affiliated colleges and online too that is on the official website of the board.

These students are then provided with roll number slips and date sheets that is in the month of February and after examination students wait for results to be declared that is to be in the month of June or July and this is declared by the officials of the board on the online website of the board.
